About Chaseville Road Labs
A Jacksonville-based, CLIA-certified molecular pathology laboratory built around clinical action.
Our Mission
Chaseville Road Labs exists to give referring clinicians the diagnostic data they need to act — quickly, clearly, and with confidence. Our menu spans three disciplines under one roof: validated multiplex PCR for infectious disease, LC-MS/MS toxicology for medication monitoring and substance use, and a full clinical chemistry and hematology service for routine blood work.
On the molecular side, we run validated PCR panels covering the conditions providers see most — respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, sexually transmitted, wound, vaginitis, and fungal infections — each reported as clear Detected / Not Detected calls per target. Our toxicology program pairs immunoassay screening with LC-MS/MS confirmation and quantitation across opiates, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and prescription classes, with analyte-level cutoffs designed for clinical decision-making. Our chemistry and blood service covers metabolic and lipid panels, hematology, thyroid and hormone testing, cardiac and inflammatory markers, and immunology — with specimen requirements and turnaround times built around the way clinicians actually order.
Every assay is designed and validated against the question a clinician actually needs answered at the point of care. We are an independent laboratory — not affiliated with a single health system — which lets us serve referring providers across Florida from a focused, modern diagnostic operation.
Behind the Name
Our name pays tribute to a piece of Jacksonville's history. The stretch of road now known as University Boulevard South traces back to the Arlington area, where its intersection with Arlington Road once served as a hub for the region's early wagon routes. Until 1959, that same roadway carried a different name — Chaseville Road — and we've carried it forward as a nod to the community we call home.
Our Laboratory
All testing is performed in-house on the Bio-Rad CFX384 real-time PCR system, a 384-well thermocycler optimized for high-throughput multiplex qPCR. Our panels are Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) validated under CLIA 42 CFR §493.1253, with ongoing quality control, calibration, and proficiency testing.
Rodrigo Martin Murillo-Alvarez, M.D.
Dr. Rodrigo Martin Murillo-Alvarez is a dual board-certified pathologist with fellowship training in both Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology from the University of Florida. He currently serves as Staff Surgical Pathologist and Hematopathologist at the Orlando VA Medical Center, providing expert diagnostic interpretation, intraoperative consultations, and hematopathology evaluations including flow cytometric analysis and interpretation of molecular and cytogenetic studies.
At Chaseville Road Labs, Dr. Murillo-Alvarez serves in three critical roles: as Laboratory Director he bears overall responsibility for testing quality, CLIA compliance, personnel oversight, and test validation under 42 CFR §493; as Clinical Consultant he provides expert interpretation support to ordering providers on complex molecular findings; and as Technical Supervisor he oversees daily technical operations, instrument performance, QC review, and the scientific integrity of CRL's high-complexity PCR testing program.
Overall accountability for CRL's testing quality, CLIA compliance, and test validation under 42 CFR §493.
Expert interpretation support for ordering providers on molecular diagnostics and complex findings.
Oversight of daily technical operations, instrument QC, and high-complexity PCR procedure validation.
